Pakal Ethnic started with two surfers who share the same love for the ocean but come from very different worlds. Jeremie, from the French Atlantic coast, grew up around waves, dunes, and the relaxed surf vibe of Capbreton. Michèle, from the Yucatán in Mexico, carried with her the warmth, colors, and craft traditions of her culture.

When life brought them together, the idea behind Pakal Ethnic came naturally:
What if we could unite ocean culture with the rich colors and techniques of Latin American craft to design one-of-a-kind pieces?

Where Our Products Are Made

Nothing at Pakal Ethnic comes from big production lines. Everything starts in Michèle’s family workshop in Mérida, Mexico, or in small artisan communities we collaborate with across the country. A team of Mayan artisans weaves, cuts, and sews our surf ponchos with incredible skill and care.

Working on a small scale allows us to keep things meaningful:

– fair and respectful production
– low waste
– and real support for traditional handcraft

Not Just Ponchos

Even though many surfers first discover us through our surf ponchos, Pakal Ethnic is much more than that. We also create thick Mexican blankets, Mayan hammocks, straw hats, surfboard socks and other handmade treasures that bring warmth, color, and character to the lives of ocean lovers.

Every piece follows the same idea: blend practical, outdoor-friendly products with the soul, creativity, and heritage of Mexican craftsmanship.
